The Mountain Gorillas of Rwanda
The habitat of the Mountain Gorillas is in the Virunga Mountains, common to northern Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda. The volcanic mountain range is covered by rainforest and a thicket of bamboo and is the home of half of ca. 380 gracious Mountain Gorillas, today an endangered species, whose behavioral resemblance to humans is shocking. Visits to the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda are strictly controlled and limited to only eight people per one single gorilla family for precisely one hour. I visited this park in year 2000.
