Hiking in the clouds and raindrops on Senja Island
Senja Island lies in northwestern Norway, north of the Arctic Circle. On clear days, you can admire dramatic views of towering peaks rising above the fjords and lush green landscapes. During our short visit, however, we only had a few hours of clear weather. Low clouds and drizzle hid the scenery and left me disappointed. Still, in July-August 2026, I met wonderful people, enjoyed handfuls of juicy blueberries, relaxed in a hot sauna, and was delighted whenever a ray of sunshine broke through the clouds.
